Job Description:

As a Fashion Designer (with Purchasing and Tailoring Responsibilities), you will take a hands-on approach to the entire design process—from initial concept and material sourcing to tailoring and final production. This role combines the creative design of collections with the technical craftsmanship of tailoring and strategic purchasing, ensuring that each garment is produced to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop fashion collections, including sketches, patterns, and technical drawings
• Research trends, customer preferences, and emerging fashion innovations
• Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure design feasibility and garment quality
• Oversee fittings, make technical adjustments, and ensure garments are properly tailored for the desired fit
• Present designs to stakeholders and incorporate feedback into the final product
• Maintain organized design and technical files, specifications, and samples for future reference

Tailoring:

• Perform or oversee tailoring and garment alterations to ensure perfect fit and finish
• Ensure garments meet design intent, quality standards, and customer requirements
• Collaborate closely with the production team to ensure that tailored garments maintain structural integrity and aesthetic appeal
• Utilize knowledge of various tailoring techniques to craft custom pieces when required

Purchasing & Sourcing:

• Identify and liaise with reliable vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers for fabrics, trims, and materials
• Negotiate with suppliers for the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms
• Monitor inventory levels and manage the timely sourcing and delivery of materials to meet production deadlines
• Ensure compliance with sustainable, ethical sourcing, and production standards
• Maintain and track purchase orders and manage supplier relationships
• Keep up-to-date with market trends in fabrics and accessories to enhance the overall quality and creativity of designs
