Accommodation Coordinator, Access-Ability Services Job Details:

Assumes responsibility for managing federally mandated academic accommodations and support services for students with disabilities. Serves as a primary resource and internal expert for students, prospective students, faculty, and staff in issues related to student disability services and support. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.

Provides confidential, direct Academic Coaching, life and social skills support for students with disabilities. Engages in instruction of various executive functioning skills including, but not limited to, time management, organization, planning, study skills, and self-advocacy. Engages with and guides new students transitioning from high school to college by providing resources, skills and tools in an effort to support a seamless transition and provide a supportive environment. *

Description of Key Responsibility

Reviews and interprets disability documentation and evaluations. Conducts intake interviews with students and parents to formally register students for disability services and accommodations. Participates in resource fairs, campus events, and direct consultation appointments in an effort to provide program information to prospective students, high school guidance counselors, and parents. Meets with students regularly to provide general disability related support. Works closely with internal constituents to refer advanced cases or issues to the appropriate campus leaders. *

Description of Key Responsibility

Consults with and refers students to University support services including Center for Student Success, Counseling and Psychological Services, Hillyer College Study Center, Residential Life, the EEO Office and other academic departments in an effort to provide resources and tools to assist with student needs.
