The Clinical Services Manager provides clinical leadership and management expertise to effectively support the delivery of patient care services to the patients and families of the Forensic Psychiatric Services Commission. The Clinical Services Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient management of inter-professional care delivery to patients and families, and in collaboration with Medical Manager, is jointly responsible for providing clinical leadership and direction for the operations management, utilization and risk management, and quality improvement of patient care services. The Clinical Services Manager promotes the philosophy and goals of the organization and the program by applying and evaluating standards, policies, practices, and procedures including the provision of clinical services involving the safety and well-being of a designated patient population by creating and promoting an environment of evidence based practice that encourages research, and supports opportunities for teaching and education of students and staff.

What you’ll do

  • Direct the strategic planning process and coordinate the process of operational planning across the assigned clinical program in collaboration with the Provincial Executive Director. Integrate specific goals and objectives into the activities of the clinical services ensuring linkages with individual performance plans, and quality management initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate on-going program team planning, development, evaluation and quality improvement activities that facilitate team goal setting, problem solving, conflict resolution and collaboration by arranging and facilitating meetings and in-services; reviewing team policies and procedures, revising documents, and developing new policies and procedures; selecting and utilizing outcome measures, implementing new approaches to care, and evaluating effect of changes in patient centered care practice; composing semi-annual and annual reports; and consult with team and collaborate with other Clinical Services Managers and the Provincial Executive Director regarding efficiency of processes and procedures and changes in policies and procedures to ensure streamlined, effective and patient/family centered practices.
  • Manage service area operations by coordinating and establishing priorities, assessing and monitoring staffing requirements and supplies. Define an effective workforce plan in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders that ensures the availability of adequate & appropriate staff according to operational demands and environmental and resource constraints. Develop, recommend, implement and evaluate staffing patterns, rotations and vacation schedules to ensure staffing to meet patient needs.
  • Provide leadership to staff through collaborative coaching, guiding and modeling key behaviours and strategies, encouraging dialogue and providing guidance and advice to facilitate resolutions to work issues. Foster partnerships and establish systems that ensure seamless client flow.

What you bring

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related health profession from an accredited University.
  • A minimum of seven years recent related clinical experience including two years working in a managerial/leadership capacity in a clinical setting.
  • Current practicing registration with a relevant professional association.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full- Time (1.00 FTE)

Salary Range: $102,938 – $147,974/ year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
