Project Controller


The Project Controller’s primary objective is to support the Project and Operations Management team in the planning and progress tracking throughout the project. The Project Controller will assist by providing clerical tracking and analysis of the project schedules and budgets on a daily and weekly basis to identify any slippages or gains early and present findings to management with critical, decision-making information that ensures projects deliver on time and on budget.

The Project Controller will do this by closely collaborating with the Project Site Management and Administrators throughout the project lifecycle to: 1) ensure no creep of scope, cost, and schedule; 2) establish reasonable baselines and deliverables; and 3) track, monitor, and report project performance particularly on schedule and budget line items. The Project Controller can than make valuable recommendations that drive project performance.


  • Project Controls execution support: Implement/execute the cost and schedule management program for assigned project(s). Support project planning efforts at various stages, facilitate development of project cost to complete estimates and budgets, and establish reasonable cost and schedule baselines.
  • Change Management / Forecasting: Implement change management practices and appropriately capture associated cost and schedule activities. Budget and schedule tracking tools to be updated on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Reporting: Develop dashboards to communicate cost and schedule performance to teams in real time. Implement a standardized suite of cost and schedule reports that enable senior management to make data driven decisions.
  • Analysis and Tracking: Perform trend analysis and actively evaluate project cost and schedule performance to identify potential risk areas, validate forecasts, and communicate those quickly to key stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment: Work with key stakeholders to identify project risks, and lead the cost and schedule contingency management process for assigned projects.
  • Studies & Scenario Generation: Lead ad-hoc cost and schedule studies that enable rapid decision-making based on payback, rate of return, acceleration, subcontractor use etc..

Other work as needed in support of successful project delivery.

Skills Requirements:

  • Experience in construction project management, including planning/scheduling, cost management, contract management, change management: preferably in high labour usage type construction.
  • Ability to lead project controls effort within an operational area of the business to meet organizational objectives
  • Comprehensive understanding of Work Breakdown Structure and project Coding structures and ability to implement cost management work processes on projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction estimating methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability in cross-functional environment.
  • Advanced MS Excel.
  • Software systems and packages including Primavera P6, MS Project or similar.
  • Ability to work within a high-performance team with aggressive project timelines and goals.

Working Conditions:

  • Extensive airline and automobile travel required
  • Work in an office and field environment
  • Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines


  • $90k-120k per annum plus Superannuation depending on experience
