Responsibilities:

  • Continually learn and develop knowledge of commodity protein markets.
  • Develop and execute a proactive communication plan for market information related to commodities for stakeholders.
  • Execute weekly procurement and management of raw materials (beef) food production.
  • Manage beef layaway programs.
  • Develop and execute buying programs for multiple proteins (beef, pork, poultry, etc.)
  • Manage commodity opportunity buys for multiple proteins.
  • Source and negotiate annual contracted key items.
  • Manage company commodity inventory levels to ensure they meet production requirements.
  • Ensure company commodity inventory levels are in line with financial forecasts.
  • Build relationships with multiple suppliers to source the best quality and pricing.
  • Procure special order items as directed.
  • Source opportunity purchases/new items and present to business units.
  • Lead regularly scheduled buyer meetings.
  • Advise and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure inventory levels are optimized for business needs.
  • Travel as required to business units and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Understanding proteins and their application is required.
  • Food industry procurement experience is required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Self-motivated and able to learn new tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Post-secondary education in supply chain or procurement is considered an asset.
