We are looking for a passionate, experienced thoroughbred enthusiast to join our team in a senior role.

The role

This is a senior role on the farm where you will be supporting the Stud Manager in the spelling farm at Seymour Park, as well as assisting our Broodmare Manager and foaling operations as required.

Provide outstanding care to our horses and provide their owners and trainers with timely and informative updates.

This role is a combination of equine husbandry and administration. You will have support from a dedicated and passionate team to help achieve all facets of this challenging and exciting role.

The specifics

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a racing/spelling role or similar – is a must-have.
  • Competency in Prism, Ardex, Arion and Microsoft Office – is preferred but not a deal breaker, we can train you.
  • Knowledge of Stud Book and Racing Australia’s rules and regulations – is an advantage.
  • Must hold a full driver’s license and have your own reliable vehicle – is a must-have.
  • Be competent in driving with a horse float, willing to undertake training to get a Medium Rigid Truck license – is preferred but not a deal breaker.

Daily tasks:

  • Liaise with the manager and coordinate daily operations.
  • Assist the manager with communications with the trainers, vets and other third parties.
  • Manage and record equine operations including treatments, movements, and spelling periods.
  • Daily feed runs and area management.
  • Assist the Broodmare team from time to time when required.
  • Coordinate horse arrivals/departures.

Seymour Park offers a balanced work/life roster. We aim to work a one-in-three weekend roster, a remuneration package will be negotiated based on your experience. We can assist with visa applications for the right candidate.
