Farm Manager Job Role:

This 300 hectare irrigated sugarcane plantation is located approximately 6km from Ayr, QLD, near the town core and close to both schools and facilities, additionally, this property offers contemporary irrigation infrastructure (mainline) and machinery.

You will play a vital role in implementing all duties connected to crop health and high standards, including sowing and planting, crop protection, irrigation, and fertigation, with 1 experienced Farm Hand reporting to you.

You will be responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of agricultural machinery, reporting directly to the Portfolio Manager, and will be recognized for your achievements with a competitive salary, company car, and incentive system.

Duties:

• Manage daily operations to meet production targets
• Manage machinery operations and contractors
• Adhere to and promote the company’s WHS policies and environmental requirements
• Support the planning and execution of crop plans
• Record keeping
• Effective and efficient machine operation and maintenance

Skills & Experience:

• Farming and crop management experience (sugarcane preferred)
• Knowledge of irrigation/fertigation systems
• Sound knowledge of chemical use and their applications
• ChemCert chemical handling certificate (favorable)
• Experience using a range of farm machinery
• Innovative and forward-thinking
• Capable of managing staff and contractors
• Computer and reporting skills
