The Costa Group is Australia’s largest Fresh Produce company and has substantial farming operations throughout Australia. The company supplies a wide variety of products to export markets and supermarket chains across the nation. This particular role will join the Citrus & Grape business unit and will be based in the Sunraysia region of Victoria.
The role will report directly to the Harvest Manager.
Scope
The Harvest Assistant Manager will plan and coordinate efficient harvest processes and timely labour mobilisation plans to achieve safety, quality and productivity standards across consecutive grape and citrus harvest seasons. A high level of adaptability regarding work hours including early starts and weekends, subject to operational requirements and weather conditions, is critical.
Responsibilities
Coordinating year-round harvest and harvest related activities and ensuring that the mobilisation of labour including contractor workers is aligned with operational and production requirements. The Manager will also ensure safe operating procedures including the delivery of daily game plans, safety toolboxes and reinforcement of safety, quality and productivity standards.
A strong focus on safely and efficiently delivering workforce productivity and performance outcomes underpins all aspects of the role.
Background and Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role, preferably on a large-scale horticultural property.
- Technical/agronomic knowledge of citrus and grape harvest operations and activities.
- Time management and the ability to communicate with a large and culturally diverse workforce is essential.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel).
