Ontario Poultry Sales Manager Job Details:

The Opportunity: The Manager, Ontario Poultry Sales is responsible for the overall management of the Poultry Sales team in Ontario. This position will also implement policy decisions as well as short and long tem strategy decisions. This role will work in collaboration with many stakeholders including, Processing plant leaders, Hatchery Managers, Planning & Procurement Manager, Live Poultry Welfare Manager, Technical Services team and Breeder Services Manager to ensure the highest level of service is provided to Maple Leaf Foods customers.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Proactively manage the sales team and ensure sales commitments for size, timing and quality through execution of the procurement plan to bring live poultry into the processing plants.
  • Responsible for the management of the sales team towards driving day-old chick sales volume to meet annual sales budget.
  • Responsible for the management of all analysis and forward-thinking continuous improvement efforts for the sales area utilizing Six Sigma tools and approach
  • Responsible for meeting the company, producer, government, and CFIA protocols required to support our differentiated product initiatives
  • Accountable for the management of all producer settlements and chick invoicing, along with claims and adjustments.
  • Required to build strong alliances with operations, feed partners and our producers.
  • Networking with other industry stakeholders, broadening sphere of influence and elevating over-all sales effectiveness
  • Recommend and implement operating policy/strategy along with the annual operating budget requirements.
  • Key liaison between internal and external stakeholders eg. producers, operations, optimization, marketing, sales, CFO, feed partners
  • Manage the performance of the Poultry Sales Team through effective implementation of Human Resources processes and policies and all Leadership Edge initiatives including hiring, training, development, and discipline, building a positive and productive employee relations environment

What You’ll Bring: The successful candidate will be results-oriented, thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment, and have the ability to develop positive working relationships with associates and employees. Candidates must have:

  • Post-secondary education or University Degree in Agriculture, Business, Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 2-5 years of management experience
  • 5 Years experience in a Poultry Sales or related position
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including Microsoft Excel, WORD, PowerPoint knowledge
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skill sets
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Proven decision-making ability using various analytical tools (SWOT analysis, Six Sigma metrics, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of the Poultry Industry would be a definite asset.
  • An ability to work independently and self-motivated
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to attend, participate and present at various Industry functions and activities, both outside and within the Company.
  • High level of computer competency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
