IT Support Specialist Job Details:
Summary/Objective:
Harper General Contractors is a commercial construction company serving the southeast with offices across North and South Carolina. The IT Support Specialist will setup, configure, and assist end-users with software, hardware, and operating systems. Duties will be performed in a mixture of office environments and construction jobsites.
Essential Functions:
- Assists office staff and field users with software and hardware problem resolution.
- Monitors helpdesk and takes appropriate action to ensure a satisfactory response within specified time frames.
- Setup and teardown of networking, computing, and AV equipment at remote jobsites.
- Document time spent and resolution details in ticketing system.
- Installs, tests, and maintains a variety of personal computing and software systems, with local area network and wide area network connectivity.
- Replaces hardware or software as needed.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high customer service standards.
- Keeps up to date with current trends and is prepared to make recommendations.
Competencies
- A strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software.
- Good problem-solving, analytical, and team-working skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Windows 10, Office 365, Apple iOS, Networking.
- Cradlepoint, Fortigate, WWAN, or Procore experience a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Work Environment: This position is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to office and construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to lift 50 pounds
- This role requires walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
- Commercial construction sites can be hazardous. Required safety gear and rule adherence mandatory.
Travel Required: Travel will be required, sometimes frequent. There will be occasional overnight trips required to support jobsites across SC and NC. Travel requirements are based on Project Assignment. When assigned to a project outside of your Primary Work Area or Geographical Work Area you will follow the guidelines in our “Travel Policy.”
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Certifications desired.
- Two to three years’ experience in a support capacity in a user-oriented environment.
