Marketing Director – Fresh Poultry & Grocery – Mississauga Job Details:

The Opportunity: Reporting to the VP of Marketing – Sustainable Meats, the Fresh Poultry & Grocery Marketing Director is responsible for providing exceptional business management to the Retail Fresh Poultry business and the Grocery department categories of canned meats & baking.

The Fresh Poultry & Grocery Marketing Director is responsible for the development, integration, and alignment of the marketing initiatives as they relate to the category business strategies and organizational objectives. The successful candidate will be a balance between a commercially driven business professional and a consumer-focused marketing leader with a track record of success in delivering profitable growth and effectively leading a team of high-performing Marketing and cross-functional professionals. Ultimately, this role will be a key part of driving our commercial growth agenda and will play a critical role in helping the business achieve its ambitious branded growth objectives.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Lead general management accountability with direct ownership of the categories P&Ls
  • Steward overall category strategy and partner with Brand team on communications strategy and execution
  • Define the category growth road map in both traditional grocery, club and non-traditional channels
  • Foster a strong sense of team across Marketing, Poultry, Research & Development, Category Sales, Revenue Management, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations
  • Be a member of and close partner with the Poultry Leadership Team (PLT)
  • Partner with Finance to ensure corporate objectives (progress) are tracked, insights derived, and action plans built
  • Partnering with Brand Marketing to develop and implement robust consumer communication plan
  • Steward of innovation and claims progression to drive growth and leading market share
  • Coach team performance, skill development and achievement of professional aspirations
  • Manage a team of 3 with 2 direct reports who will help deliver our growth agenda

  • General Manager mindset with a bias towards delighting consumers
  • A track record of delivering successful product innovations, and leading change, in a consumer-focused CPG environment
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity and transform it into clarity for the organization
  • The advanced leadership, and change management, skills needed maintain and strengthen innovation discipline
  • Strong relationship building skills with a well-developed “people interaction” skill set who can successfully navigate and influence a complex organization
  • A strategic and entrepreneurial thinker who will roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, and who can be creative within constraints
  • Ability to partner with the Consumer Insights group to identify meaningful consumer problems and develop and validate solutions, and quickly develop Need to Believe business cases and get to decisions on whether to proceed or not
  • Ability to develop and sell-in business case plans for innovation and commercialization ideas
  • Must be a self starter with an ownership mindset; passionate, proactive and performance driven, with a bias for action
  • Strong coaching and people development skills
  • Familiarity with (and experience applying) design thinking an asset

  • Commercial Acumen – Solid understanding of key drivers of marketing, brand management, P&L and Sales interdependencies, as well as the ability to leverage them to identify and execute changes to move the business forward
