Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Steel Interstate Fleet Controller to join our dynamic steel team in Unanderra NSW. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing our interstate cartage from Port Kembla, coordinating routes, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

This role operates 6.30am-3.00pm Monday – Friday.

As a Steel Interstate Fleet Controller, you will:

Develop efficient and cost-effective transportation routes for our interstate fleet, considering factors such as distance, time, fuel consumption, and road regulations.

Coordinate the dispatch of trucks, drivers, and shipments to ensure on-time deliveries and pickups.

Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule and oversee routine vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure fleet reliability.

Stay up-to-date with interstate transportation regulations, permits, and licensing requirements. Ensure all vehicles and drivers are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams. Address any issues or delays promptly to minimize disruptions. * Actively participate in the roll-out of toolbox meetings and other communications to workers and contractors.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience (3 + years) in fleet management, dispatch, or logistics coordination, preferably in an interstate transportation setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the NHVA, interstate transportation regulations, compliance, and safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in using fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
