Job Position: Dairy Cattle Farmer AND Dairy Cattle Farm Operator

Salary:$100,000-110,000 pa + super and accommodation (for the Dairy Cattle Farmer)
$73,000-$75,000 pa + super (for Dairy Cattle Farm Operator)

Parkinson Sharefarming Pty Ltd is a family- owned dairy farming business based at Kirkstall and Ballangeich in South West Victoria. Two positions are available for Dairy Cattle Farmer and one position is available for a Dairy Cattle Farm Operator. 

Tasks for the Dairy Cattle Farm Operator include: 

• dairly milking routines- Operate milking plant and equipment, monitor cows’ health and wellbeing, yarding cows using ATVs, set up and shut down routines; 
• Identify and report equipment not operating normally;
• Read and record instrument information i.e. Milk vat temperatures and cow numbers; 
• Understand the principles of safe working;
• Operate and basic maintenance of farm machinery; 
• Know general scientific terminology and assist with general farming duties and animal husbandry tasks; 
• Operate standard measuring equipment; 
• Operate computerised systems using menu options;
• Feed Calves and assist with cows calving;
• Contribute to the team in a specific role, at times assisting other team members and at times work without supervision.
• Salary: $73,000-$75,000 pa + super; 
• Accommodation may be available;
• Applicants with less than one year of recent dairy farming experience need not apply.

Tasks for the Dairy Cattle Farmer/2IC include all of the above, and: 

• Report directly to the farm manager; 
• Supervise and train other staff members within the manager’s guidelines; 
• Take over the farm manager’s duties on their days away; 
• Ability to understand and connect the farm’s operations as a whole, and within the wider dairy industry; 
• Within guidelines, take corrective action where plant and equipment are not operating as usual; 
• Ability to identify and treat most cow’s health issues, or call and assist vets as necessary; 
• Pasture and fodder management; 
• Farm infrastructure maintenance and planning- plant and equipment, machinery, water and fences;
• Operate, maintain and evaluate computerised systems and records, and take corrective action within the manager’s guidelines; and
• Assist the manager in identifying issues and creating solutions with regards to day-to-day farm management. 
• Salary: $100,000-110,000 pa + super and accommodation
