Salary: $85,000 – $89,999 Per Year

A farming opportunity is offered on a family-owned and run farm 2.5 hours east of Perth. The job entails a mix of grain cultivation and truck driving. The principal focus of the farm operation is grain production, with a 6500ha cropping program generating substantial tonnages of wheat, barley, canola, and lupins.

As a result, it is critical that the successful candidate possess strong mechanical, machine operation, and maintenance abilities, as well as the drive and ability to carry out essential operational plans. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with the operations manager in the formulation and execution of operational strategies while also being able to work independently.

The company owns and runs two pocket road trains for the transportation of our own fertilizer and other inputs, the delivery of grain, and the provision of contract services to surrounding farms.

The company is outfitted with cutting-edge gear, such as GPS navigation and management systems. EJ Powell & Co takes great interest in the care, maintenance, and appearance of all machinery.

Senior Farm Hand job Required

• Have the desire to work within a family friendly work environment where your work and your suggestions are valued.  
• MC license or HC with the desire to upgrade to MC.
• A good mechanical understanding doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be a mechanic, but you have a good natural understanding and care of machines, what we would call machine sympathy.
• To have the ability or at least the aptitude to operate and conduct general maintenance of machines.
• To be able to manage your time to complete time critical tasks like spraying, seeding, and harvesting.
• To be able to meet truck delivery tasks efficiently and on time.
• Have the ability and or aptitude to operate machinery software and onboard computers
• You must be an Australian permanent resident.

Skills

Senior Farm Hand job Duties

• Implement operational plans developed in conjunction with the owner in a timely manner 
• Operate farm machinery
• Truck driving to deliver grain and/or pick up inputs.
• General farm work as and when required.
• Utilise farm software to record farm activities
• Scheduled general maintenance and upkeep of farm vehicles and machinery.
