Job Description Summary The Aero Product Management vision is focused on the following key tenants:

1. Disciplined Strategy – combine domain knowledge and expertise to develop market-backed and customer-validated product strategies for existing and emerging spaces.

2. Strategic Integration – Influence and partner with key internal and external parties (Commercial, Engineering, Digital, Supply Chain, GRC, third parties, etc) to develop, assess and leverage new technologies and developments, integrating these into our strategies and planning processes.

3. Holistic Lifecycle Approach – Lead, cultivate and sharpen product offerings through the entire Product Lifecycle-Strategy from Product Introduction through to Product Retirement.

4. Decisive Alignment – Drive collaboration, alignment and execution across the horizontal leaders in the Gas Power business to deliver results for our customers and our business financial plans.

Job Description

The Aero Product Management team is one of the key verticals within the Product Management organization and represents all Aeroderivative Products throughout the lifecycle.

The Product Competitiveness Leader will liaise with the Technical Competitive Intelligence team, Performance CI team, Pricing CI leaders, and MRCI teams in the regions to develop an integrated view of competitiveness of GE products against OEM competitors. They will collaborate with the product owners to provide a differentiated and compelling value proposition on our products to maintain a strong share within the large block utility segment. This is a critical role on the team with significant opportunity to demonstrate creative problem-solving, technical, commercial, communication and process skills in a complex, global and fast-paced environment.

Key Deliverables:

  • Synthesize CI information from engineering, commercial, and region teams to create a competitive gap analysis to identify core business and technical strengths and weaknesses compared to competitor OEMs.
  • Develop and follow a structured & repeatable process to understand the key reasons for winning or losing and provide the business with a comprehensive & objective database.
  • Build competitive knowledge, identify strengths & weaknesses vs. competition.
  • Track competitive trends strategies to support future bids.
  • Identify the gaps (technology, delivery, cost positioning and drive improvement actions.
  • Postmortem analysis of won & lost deals … detailed assessment of the key customer’s value drivers and GE’s positioning vs. the competition.
  • Drive and lead red team blue team events on specific deals or key technology areas to deliver a better understanding of our competitive position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business-related discipline or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • Significant experience on OEM Gas Turbine Technology
  • Additional to product line experience, at least strong experience in a leadership role within a product line, commercial or technical environment

Desired Characteristics:

  • Effective team building and problem-solving abilities
  • Prior experience in or working with services operational and execution teams preferred.
  • Ability to “blue sky” – design product capabilities to solve problems, creativity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including executive level presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Product line technology, processes is a distinct advantage
  • Strong change agent with particular focus on executing efficiently in a complex, diverse and dynamic cross-functional global team
  • Outstanding technical, business & financial analysis skills
  • Deep knowledge of the power generation marketplace
