The Agriculture Assistant is responsible for supporting activities of the Seed breeding program located in Leamington Ontario, including but not limited to seeding, transplanting, plot upkeep, field sampling/data collection, seed harvesting, hybrid crossing and other seasonal and general duties in the Leamington winter greenhouse.

Responsibilities:

– Perform greenhouse crop upkeep task including pruning, clipping, and tying up of plants.

– Assist in tomato hybrid crossing in the greenhouse and field

– Assist in seasonal operational tasks, such as seeding, transplanting, weed control, picking tomatoes for testing and seed data collection.

– Cleaning of Greenhouse and designated work area

Qualifications:

– High school diploma or equivalent.

– Prior agriculture experience.

– Proficient in utilizing a computer to complete various aspects of the job, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, i.e., Word, Excel, etc.
