If you wish to work and reside temporarily in Australia for more than 6 months, you can apply for a Temporary work visa (Government Agreement Stream). This visa stream allows you to work in Australia under the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between the Australian Government and the government of another country.

  • You can stay up to 2 years under this visa.
  • The processing time for a work visa may take from 6-12 weeks from the application day.
  • You can bring your spouse and kids with you.
  • The passport remains at the Embassy / Consulate during the entire process of visa proceeding

What are the eligibility requirements for the Temporary Work (International Relations) visa?

6 Eligibility Requirements:

  • Your stay must have the support of both signatories of the bilateral agreement you are in Australia to work under.
  • You must be able to support yourself and any dependents.
  • You should be of good conduct.
  • You should be in good health.
  • You must have a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia.
  • You need valid travel insurance covering the entire period of your stay.

Which documents do I need to apply for the Temporary Work (International Relations) visa?

6 Document Required:

  • Visa application form, completed and signed.
  • Evidence that you meet the terms and conditions of a bilateral agreement between the Australian Government or a state and territory government and a foreign signatory.
  • Identity documents like birth certificates, marriage certificates, and common law certificate (as applicable).
  • An overseas police certificate; from every country, including your home country, where you spent a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years since you turned 16 years old.
  • Copies of travel health insurance.
  • Proof of sufficient means of subsistence
