Wayfair is seeking data-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated candidates for summer internship positions within our Commercial business. Commercial Strategy Associate Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in core functional areas at the center of our customer experience and contribute directly to the growth and success of the company. What You’ll Do:

  • Build key supplier relationships to enable successful negotiations and push towards best-in-class customer experiences
  • Create cross-functional partnerships to advance your category through merchandising, promotions, marketing, on-trend product selection, effective pricing and profitability strategy, and operational excellence
  • Leverage data to analyze the competitive environment and develop business cases for strategic initiatives
  • Increase customer satisfaction and trust by improving the quality of our product catalog leveraging tools, data and resources effectively
  • Implement new merchandising technologies at scale, using data and insights to make it easier for suppliers to execute on perfect merchandising
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, utilizing excellent communication skills to deliver results on high-priority, high-impact projects

What You’ll Need:

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors or higher with the expectation that degree will be obtained between December 2024 and Summer 2025
  • Must be returning to the course of study following completion of the internship

As a Commercial Strategy Associate Intern, you’ll join our teams that are driving Wayfair’s best-in-class online customer experience. You’ll be responsible for owning and maintaining Wayfair’s vast e-commerce catalog, executing strategy for product categories and managing supplier relationships, and continually improving the customer’s on-site shopping experience.

Wayfair Professional (aka Wayfair B2B) is an industry leading business to business sales organization dedicated to help businesses make good spaces great. Wayfair Professional is the ‘gated’ experience of Wayfair dedicated to all business customers. We organize our customer base and corresponding offering (site and sales) into 7 industry verticals, prioritizing our Interior Design, Commercial Office and Contractor experiences. In 2021, we expect to generate $2B in GRS and we are on a journey to being a $5B+ business by 2025 (+30% YoY growth), with over a $300B opportunity to cover across North America and Europe over the subsequent 10 years

Catalog Merchandising

The Global Merchandising organization is responsible for building and maintaining Wayfair’s e-commerce catalog of over 24 million+ products. The organization consists of multiple teams who each play a crucial role in defining and executing on best-in-class merchandising. The Global Operations Platform teams guide the management of our enormous product catalog and provide suppliers with tools to continually expand our product assortment.The Merch teams drive product discovery, consideration and purchase on all of our stores and marketing channels by ensuring customers have complete, accurate and relevant product information, and removing friction for suppliers to provide it. The Data Integrations & Analytics teams leverage Big Data to optimize internal merchandising processes. Together, these teams deliver on key merchandising goals.

Category Management

The Category Management team drives strategy for Wayfair’s largest product categories through tight internal and external partnership. We serve as ambassadors of the product categories we manage. We are at the forefront as Wayfair redefines the supplier experience as a platform, giving suppliers more data, more transparency, and more control while retaining the high-touch elements that make working with Wayfair exceptional. Internally, we leverage a diverse set of cross-functional partners to execute our strategic vision. In a role on the Category Management team, you will be expected to define overarching goals and strategy within your category, problem-solve, articulate and execute against tactical plans, and manage key business metrics. Members of the team must be able to expertly negotiate internally and externally, while also being effective project managers.

Curated Merchandising

Curated Merch is responsible for catapulting Wayfair into a leading and compelling brand of choice. The broader organization includes Brand Development, Creative, Promotions and all forms of curated merchandising (e.g., Shop the Look, Registry, print catalog). This includes Physical Retail Stores, Promotional Experiences and User Generated Content.

Perigold

Perigold is Wayfair’s newest brand, targeting the luxury home market. We are focused on providing an unparalleled assortment of luxury home goods through an elevated online shopping experience for our customers. We do this by connecting the best brands with our luxury customers while working on product curation, brand marketing and storytelling, building a best-in-class site experience, and providing best-in-class service and delivery. We serve as ambassadors for the categories we manage by identifying and solving unique customer and supplier challenges. Internally we partner with various teams including Profit Management, Merchandising, Partner Operations, Marketing, Brand and Curated Merchandising and Promotions to bring the Perigold vision to life.

Physical Retail

The physical retail team brings Wayfair’s world-class customer focus to life through our in-person retail shopping experience across our family of brands.

Specialty Retail Brands

Wayfair’s Specialty Retail Brands (AllModern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main) target the $60B specialty furniture market and are incremental to Wayfair LLC. These brands provide a tightly curated assortment of highly stylish and elevated quality products for the style-obsessed specialty customer.

Supplier Advertising & Merch Services

Supplier Advertising team sells and advocates the use of our advertising suite of products to our supplier base. We help suppliers stand out on site and amplify their exposure off site. The team is focused on driving the maximum performance for every dollar a supplier spends with us and drives significant high margin revenue to Wayfair’s bottom line.

Visual Media Creation

This organization is made up of a group of fast-paced teams at Wayfair that manage the “virtual factory” building high quality, photorealistic 3D models and imagery for both internal and external customers. These assets allow Wayfair to raise the quality bar for e-commerce imagery, build out mission-critical proprietary brands, and power next-gen customer experiences like Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

Wayfair Internship Program Overview

Our Summer Internship Program is a paid ten-week, full-time program in our Boston – Copley office for 10 weeks June-August. An Important Note about Wayfair’s In-Office Policy:

All Boston-based interns, Co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely the other 1 day of the week.
