Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory’s communities.

Coordinator, Government Research and Reporting (QEC-23-034)

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Reporting to Manager, Electrical Distribution Planning, the Coordinator, Government Research and Reporting fulfills a critical support role by coordinating applications for NMP, CIPP & IPP. The position is also responsible for providing financial and progress reporting and analytical support encompassing renewable energy reporting metrics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate applications for Net Metering Program (NMP), Commercial & Institutional Power Producer (CIPP) & Independent Power Producer (IPP).
  • Support customers through NMP, CIPP, and IPP processes.
  • Manage existing NMP/ CIPP/IPP program. Keep Manager, Energy Management, apprised.
  • Seek out and provide advice regarding potential federal, territorial and or non-government sources of financing for renewable activities.
  • Prepare reports and apply for new Federal funding opportunities.
  • Provide Government liaison (funding only) and research on government programs (e. g. NRCan – CEIRRC).
  • Documentation control for applications, technical assessments and evaluations, contacts, financial contributions, and payments to proponents.
  • Data collection and appropriate distribution both internally and externally.
  • Providing reporting and analytical support encompassing renewable energy reporting metrics
  • In conjunction with Project Administrative Coordinator – Engineering, keep all reporting information filed properly for audit purposes.

Required Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Resource Management, Business Administration or Economics.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in research and reporting.

Assets:

  • Experience in Utility sector is an asset.
  • Strong administrative skills, including documentation standards is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture.
  • The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French.

A combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered.

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $98,009.29 to $114,484.20 and a northern living allowance of $16, 008.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee’s Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
