POSITION TITLE: Produce Stocker

Produce Clerk

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Produce Manager

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

To stock, rotate and face product, cut, sort produce deliveries, build displays as required to ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers

NATURE AND SCOPE

Primary emphasis in this position is on meeting daily needs in stocking, load cutting, sorting and display building, product availability and provide high level of customer service. The primary challenge is to acquire necessary production speed in cutting, sorting and stocking and product knowledge. This position requires ongoing interaction with customers, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, walking, moderate to heavy lifting, and operation of pallet jack and box cutter. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. Assignments and work direction are provided by the Produce Manager or person in charge.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1. Assist customers

– Greet customers

– Answer customer questions; provides product sampling and suggestive selling

– Bring customers to location of item, when needed

– Assist with product replacement and price checks

– Assist at checkout and cashier as needed

Functional Requirements

Frequent: Physical – lifting up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (scanner, register, scale, check approval machine, coupon machine, intercom), reaching, standing, and turning

Mental – judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing and math

Occasional: Physical – lifting over 50 lbs., equipment operation (calculator), squatting,

stooping/bending and walking

2. Perform stocking as assigned

– Complete assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner; meet or exceed production requirements;

– Maintain department conditions; product availability and placement, display to shelf stocking, facing, culling, rotation, cleanliness and safety, and signing

– Handle product carefully to avoid damage

– Rotate stock for freshness and quality

– Maintain floral items as needed

– Adhere to store and department safety and sanitation policies and procedures

3. Perform cutting, wrapping and prepares greens

– Follow safe food handling and sanitation policies and procedures

– Prepare pre-cut fruit display

– Trim and wrap vegetables

– Follow crisping program for greens

– Prepare seasonal fruit baskets

4. Receive product, unload trucks and sort produce loads as assigned

– Check product received for correct type and amount

– Properly log information and check invoices

– Verify product quality, freshness and checks for damage

– Code and date all product for cooler storage

– Properly sort product, load onto cart or pallet in stable manner and move to proper location for stocking

– Store over stock in proper location

5. Build displays and perform reset as assigned

– Prepares location according to instruction and cuts, stocks and faces display product

– Restocks, rotates and faces as needed

6. Assist in completing produce order as assigned

Functional Requirements

Frequent: Mental – judgment/decision making, memorization, reading, writing, math and equipment operation (telxon)

7. Perform clean up of sales floor and back room as necessary

– Pick up/compacts cardboard, stack pallets, clean up spills, store overstock

– Clean shelves, racks as needed

– Ensure department is swept and sweep log is current

9. Performs other duties as assigned or delegated

Note: *Within each essential functional requirement, “Frequent” represents approximately 15% of

the work shift or at least ten repetitions per work shift. “Occasional” represents approximately less than 15% of the work shift or fewer than 10 repetitions per work shift
