Dairy Cattle Farm Assistant Job Details:
Job Description We are looking for a Dairy Cattle Farm Assistant to assist with our large dairy operation in Ashburton, Canterbury.
The requirements for the job are:
+ Minimum experience of 6 months on a large dairy operation with more than 1400 cows.
+ MILKING: Be able to assist in efficient and hygienic milking routine. Follow procedure to produce high quality milk. Experience on Rotary Sheds.
+ LIVESTOCK: Assist in safe handling of animals, report any health and welfare issues as per farm policy. Assist with moving and handling animals safely and observe and report on wellbeing of all classes of stock.
+FEED: Assist with pasture and crop weed control. Experience setting breaks on fodder beet and Kale crops.
+IRRIGATION: Assist with irrigation by shifting K-lines and Rotorainers.
+PEOPLE: Work well with others, building a strong team culture. Develop an understanding of what makes a good farm team, and how their actions affect the wider team.
Machine, vehicles, and technology
Safely use and maintain vehicles on farm as directed by on farm policy. Learn about the farm irrigation system, and assist with identifying irrigation problems and making repairs, as direct
+TECHNOLOGY: The applicant must be able to use technology. Experience with Halter or other collars is an advantage.
Employee will need to undertake a pre-employment drug test.
