Job Responsibilities:
Position Summary: This DRUG TESTING TECHNICIAN OPPORTUNITY IS 40 hours per week AND ideal for retirees, students, or individuals seeking entry level criminal justice experience. Located in MilWAUKEE, WI, the position drug tests at the Milwaukee County Safety Building
Essential Functions:
- Perform 40 hours of drug testing (urine and oral), following all chain of custody and specific program protocols in the Milwaukee Adult Court Services Programs.
- Maintain a flexible schedule to provide coverage when program staff are out and provide additional support during high volume times.
- Check and stock inventory of all drug testing supplies and alert Supervisor of low inventory.
- Empty garbage and replace supplies in the drug testing room and bathroom as necessary.
- Administer Preliminary Breath Tests and record results per specific program protocol.
- Dispose of positive urine screens stored in the refrigerator, per posted disposal schedule.
- Maintain accurate logs and chain of custody of samples
- Ability to follow assigned policies and procedures at ALL times.
- Provide excellent customer service to the staff and clients
- requires the ability to use a computer

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be trained by a trained drug testing facilitator and follow all established drug testing protocols to preform chain of custody urine screens and oral swabs. Understanding of case management principles and practices, specific to documentation required for the drug testing technician. Must be comfortable with a fast paced environment and have the ability to multi-task. Must learn and embrace the spirit of Motivational Interviewing, as well as all established Evidenced Based Principals.
Minimal Qualifications and Salary Schedule: High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in criminal justice or related field preferred. Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required.

Work Relationship and Scope: Reports directly to the the Program Director of the EM Operations at WCS. Has contact with a wide variety of people from all Adult Court Services Programs, as well as other WCS leaders and staff.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in the office environment 40 hours per week; flexible work schedule may include mornings, evenings, as well as occasional Saturday hours.
Physical Demands: Duties require good hearing and the ability to communicate verbally; must be able to walk and/or stand for the duration of the entire shift.
