Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist Job Details:

Since starting in Perth in 2012, CMW Geosciences has expanded to 11 offices with 250 employees across Australia and New Zealand. We are hard-working, down-to-earth and passionate engineers and geologists providing quality geotechnical site investigation, analysis and design advice to the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors.

In Tauranga, our team of Engineers and Geologists work across the Western Bay of Plenty and Central North Island region with a diverse portfolio of projects. Most recently, they have been working on

  • Infrastructure – Waka Kotahi national roading projects
  • Energy – wind, solar, and geothermal energy projects
  • Construction – industrial business parks and small to large-scale residential developments

We are looking to bring on a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to assist in delivering a diverse range of projects across Bay of Plenty. You must have a passion for geotechnical engineering and be prepared to tackle a geologically diverse and challenging region.

The Tauranga office is an established team of 25-30 (depending on the time of the year) who invest heavily in building a connected and supportive team. Theres a weekly morning tea roster, a bowls team, social committee, flexible working, and plenty of social gatherings. As well as belonging to a close Tauranga team, youll have the support and backing of a larger international company – all invested in the same goal of fostering an energised workforce that delivers exceptional geotechnical advice.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the technical team to develop, provide and promote technical solutions, options and initiatives to meet client needs.
  • Undertake technical and non-technical tasks and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of your work.
  • Develop relationships with clients and sub-consultants / suppliers.
  • Monitor project progress against budget to ensure cost overruns are avoided.
  • Prepare for and undertake fieldwork, including derivation of ground models
  • Prepare proposals, technical documents and other correspondence.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of technical output.

Qualification/Experience

  • Qualified Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist.
  • 2+ years experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Bay of Plenty or New Zealand experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking site investigation and geotechnical consulting projects.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must hold a full drivers license, valid in New Zealand.
