A Day in the Life of a Heavy Equipment Operator II

Alexis Climbed into her grader flipped the ignition switch and listened to the engine roar to life, the sound that meant she had made it. The smell of spring was on the gentle breeze; the morning sun was starting to warm the land. With the sun shining in the cab, she headed out down the highway. Alexis arrived at the job site, it was up to her to blade the road smooth again. As she sets her blade, she calls for water, minutes later the water truck is on the patch. When the moisture is perfect, she calls off the water and starts to make the first cut. The gravel rolls off the blade like a tidal wave, just 7 passes to the perfect grade. She picks up her blade after the last pass and she looks across the land taking in the beauty of the Yukon, a bear saunters along the ditch just a few hundred meters down and she thinks to herself: “I can’t believe I’m getting paid to be here”
