Salary: $80,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineering Technician to conduct tests of mechanical systems, collects and analysis data, and assembles and installs mechanical assemblies in support of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists.

Tasks required include:

  • Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists
  • Assisting Mechanical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design of mechanical equipment and plant
  • Perform all preventative maintenance functions in line with the engineering plans
  • Assemble and install new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls and hydraulic power systems.
  • Troubleshoot faults and analyse equipment failures to recommend solutions
  • Communicate with Production Management to ensure expectations are met.
  • Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems.
  • Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements
  • Performing and directing field and laboratory tests
  • Collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams
  • Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant
  • Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations, and contract provisions.
  • Quality Control
  • Comply with Safety and security standards which includes investigating all incidents and taking corrective actions to ensure a safe environment for all employees and customers.
  • Supervise employees to ensure that business operations and procedures are adhered to.
  • Provide assistances to staff, Engineering Technicians, Management/Directors and suppliers
  • Utilise MEX for accurate and thorough record keeping and ordering as required
  • Maintain tidy workspace removing rubbish and ensuring tidy workspace at all times.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma relevant to Mechanical Engineering or overseas equivalent
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in the Mechanical Engineering Industry.
  • Management experience in the Mechanical Engineering Industry will be highly regarded.
  • Exceptional teamwork, customer service and time management
  • Ability to function under pressure and manage staff
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical engineering principles and maintenance, with relevant tertiary education and/or experience;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with workers of all levels and abilities;
  • Strong communication skills, ability to write reports and correspondence, ability to speak clearly and effectively with internal and external contacts;
  • Strong emphasis on accuracy to ensure a consistently high quality of work.
