JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reporting to the Oxford College Organic Farmer/Educator, this position is responsible for post-harvest handling and record keeping.
  • This includes preparing product for sale, deliveries, and marketing.
  • Manages packing of CSA boxes, preparing for farmers markets, and packing for wholesale accounts.
  • Works with other staff, volunteers, and students including training them on post-harvest handling.
  • Responsible for maintaining food safety standards for the farm.
  • Assists in other farm work as needed: field prep, planting, plant care, harvest, and some administrative tasks.
  • Works with the Farmer/Educator to market to the public via social media and other venues.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience in organic farming, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Prefer knowledge of organic farming practices, marketing of produce, post-harvest handling, food safety protocols, and the local food movement.
  • Horticulture skills of propagation, weeding, scouting, and harvest are also preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
