The Opportunity
This position is a research scientist working at the bench and pilot plant to support the development strategy of the business. People in this position will develop products/processes to enhance current products, derive new products and commercialize both for value addition to the business. This position will be an application and processing scientist working with a variety of protein products and processes.
- Formulate nutritional bars and other applications to meet customers’ specifications
- Develop innovative applications that utilize Glanbia’s ingredient portfolio
- Work with sales and PSM to support the customer through visits and/or phone calls to give technical assistance on customer-based projects
- Write reports in a clear, concise and meaningful way including interpretation of scientific data
- Operate and troubleshoot instruments and pilot equipment in our laboratories creating a more efficient R&D operations
- Review scientific literature and pull together potential solutions based on prior work
- Understanding of Human Biochemistry and Nutrition
- Make presentations to sales, market, and business development personnel
- Interface with R&D and PSM teams for commercialization of projects within the realm of responsibility
- Plan and design robust experiments (experimental design) that can be statistically analysed and stand up under scientific scrutiny
- Make technical presentations at conferences, meetings, trade shows, and customer visits
- Take food and supplement formulations from bench-top to pilot plant scale
The Skills you will bring to the team
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) and a minimum of two years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to sales, marketing and business development teams.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, nutrition database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
