Overview

Kemin is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to be part of the global procurement team and responsible for purchasing activities supporting Kemin’s production operations in Verona, Missouri. This involves optimizing inventory levels, ensuring goods are on-time and complete, procuring ingredient and packaging materials, and developing relationships with suppliers. This position works closely with production scheduling and the North America procurement team to drive strategic initiatives such as cost savings, continuous improvement, and vendor relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Directly involved in negotiating pricing with suppliers. Identifying new suppliers to management and leads supplier approval process.
  • Responsible for purchasing raw materials and other expense items, ensuring arrival on time and best cost.
  • Identifying and recommending cost improvement areas,
  • Analyze raw material demands and production plan to assure the supply smoothly and stock properly.
  • Assist with training of purchasing employees
  • Cooperation with R&D to deal with quality of raw materials and evaluation from suppliers.
  • Works closely with accounts payable on invoicing discrepancies.
  • Review purchase requests against Kemin’s purchasing policy
  • Develops and revises purchasing SOPs.
  • Leads work associated with supplier audits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of related experience of related experience; or Associates Degree with 5+ years of related experience; or High School Diploma with 7+ years related experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated use of negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a team environment.
  • Understanding of inventory control systems, computer systems, as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong decision making abilities
  • Understanding of material safety requirements
  • Forklift experience
  • ISO and GMP experience helpful
