Role Profile: The Sr. Storage & Backup Systems Engineer(SME) role will have primary enterprise storage and backup administration responsibilities for systems located at our data centres and other several smaller sites. In addition will be engaged in implementing enterprise IT storage platforms supporting UNIX, Windows, and Virtual platforms. You will participate, in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure storage provisioning, efficiency, and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Work in collaboration with other members of the Enterprise Computing Team on new systems setup, performance management, routine maintenance, capacity planning, break/fix, backups and data centre operations. You will be an escalation point for L2 engineers, also be responsible for planning Trainings & Projects for Storage & back up Team. Must be available 24/7 for on-call for ‘problem resolution’ The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to: Enterprise Storage and Backup solution . In-depth knowledge of EMC storage technologies as well as Fiber Channel SAN concepts including hardware such as Fiber Channel Directors, switches, cables, connectors, cards, and related zoning on switches . Implementation of enterprise data storage solutions for various projects using mainly EMC products and Dell, Fijitsu, and other smaller distributed storage arrays . Manage online storage to include allocation, placement, access, retention, archiving, backup and restore . Ensure scheduled backups and archive logs files are successfully copied to off-site Disaster & Recovery facility using EMC Data Domain and tape media . Respond to all systems performance issues, restore requests, and hardware break/fix issues in a prompt and efficient manner . Track storage and backup historical data to ensure sufficient resources are allocated and forecast for future incremental needs . Installation/decommission of all associated computer servers, storage, and peripheral devices . Work with administration teams across the enterprise to understand and meet their SAN requirements. . Perform routine capacity planning of storage and backup infrastructure (i.e. storage frames, SAN switches, etc.) . Recommend, install, and track software upgrades, patches, and firmware upgrades as needed for all storage and backup systems . Configuration of EMC Networker in a multi data zone environment . Backups configuration for M.S Exchange, SQL. Oracle and M.S SharePoint L3 – Senior Systems Engineer – Storage & Backups Location: – Bangalore, India Public Use . Deploy methodologies for testing server, storage and virtualization systems performance and providing performance statistics and reports. Knowledge: Overall 12 Years’ experience with minimum 7 years’ experience in Storage & backups. . Experience in managing or maintaining large server environments, especially those in multiple data centres with active/active and active/passive configurations . Hands-on knowledge of EMC VNX, EMC XtremIO, EMC Data Domain, EMC Unity, EMC Recover Point. . Hands-on knowledge of EMC Networker is preferred. Knowledge on Veeam Backup . Extensive understanding of EMC Storage, fibre channel switch management, backup tape libraries, and peripheral devices . Must have experience with EMC Storage subsystems, File servers and EMC Networker/any enterprise Backup software . Experience using EMC management tools such as ViPR, SRM, Unisphere . Good understanding and knowledge of Intel based servers RedHat Linux, MS Windows Servers & Virtualization, SUN Solaris servers, as well as . Good knowledge of Oracle and SQL databases . Knowledge on TCP/IP & Ethernet networks with good exposure to Data centre operations . Solving complicated hardware cases and Liaising with vendors . Experience in disaster recovery processes . Working knowledge on recognized ITSM tool (ServiceNow) or any other ticketing tools . Certifications in storage technologies including SAN Storage/Fabric or Backup systems . Minimum Bachelor’s degree. Experience: Ability to work independently with minimum inputs. Should be a strong team player. . Excellent problem solver with the ability to prioritize and coordinate between tasks. . Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and end user support. . Ability to clearly document problems, solutions and important information for the team. . Able to write or verbally express concise easy to follow instructions for the end user, including the ability to articulate and convey technical information to non-technical people. .
