As our Tax Accountant, reporting to our Tax Manager, you will join the Financial Control Team and assist with ensuring compliance with statutory, taxation and other legislative requirements.
About our ideal candidate
- Bachelor of Accounting / Finance or equivalent.
- Minimum 5yrs accounting experience with proven exposure to commercial tax.
- Experience of income tax and tax effect accounting.
- Experience with FBT.
- Exposure to tax accounting within a Quick Service Restaurant, Retail or similar environment preferred.
- Energetic self-starter with an inquiring mind and strong attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and consider yourself a quick learner.
- Proactive and hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and influence key stakeholders with an open and friendly style.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team whilst managing multiple tasks and working to deadlines.

A day in the life of a Tax Accountant
- Preparation of multiple Australian corporate tax returns, including consolidated group and co-operative company.
- FBT coordinating, calculations and processing.
- Preparation, lodgement, and payment of and Business Activity Statements (BAS) monthly PAYG instalments.
- Preparation of periodic tax effect accounting.
- Tax Reporting to US Tax team, annual return-to-provision calculation and 5471 tax packages.
- Statutory accounts for the Australian business under IFRS.
- Accounts, tax filings and other statutory requirements for our New Zealand entity.
- Quarterly cash flow forecasts.
- Responsible for the reconciliation of the book and tax periodic fixed asset registers and periodic review of the tax effective lives of additions.
- Calculation and payment of royalty expense including associated withholding tax reporting.
- Review and completion of various balance sheet reconciliations.
- Calculation of contractors’ payments subject to payroll tax.
- Assist with the management, review and documentation of international tax transactions and compliance requirements, including providing business guidance.
