This is a full-time position which may involve weekend or public holidays work and some unplanned hours of work where the need arises (paid accordingly).

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Operate milking plant and equipment;
  • Identify and report equipment not operating normally;
  • Work co-operatively as part of a team;
  • Read and record instrument information i.e. Milk vat temperatures and cow numbers; and
  • Understands the principles of safe working;

  • Solve problems and make decisions within given guidelines;
  • Know general scientific terminology and assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, fertiliser mix design etc.;

  • Operate computerised systems using menu options
  • Contribute to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting other team members; and
  • Work at times without supervision

The role will include all aspects of cotton cropping including ground preparation, cultivation, spraying, seeding and picking. The machinery used is mainly John Deere with GPS fitted as well as Caterpillar earth moving gear for property maintenance when needed.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and be familiar with John Deere equipment as maintenance and servicing will also form part of the role. With 2,500ha of dryland cultivation, our client grows hay, wheat, canola, barley and favour beans depending on the season. With a fleet of all GPS enabled FWA tractors, 25 tonne chaser bins, New Holland headers and Case Patriot sprayers you will be operating modern, well maintained machinery along with preforming other farm duties.

Our client values commitment and longevity in their staff and enjoys a very low staff turnover rate. Previous farming experience is advantageous but not essential as our client is willing to teach the right applicant. Those with a trade qualification in any field are encouraged to apply. You will need a Victorian Semi licence or the ability to get one prior to commencement. Having a Chemical Certificate and sprayer experience as well as welding skills will also set you apart from other applicants but are not essential. Our client is looking for someone who has sound communication skills, attention to detail, cares about the machinery they operate and can work unsupervised.
