We are seeking an experienced communications practitioner with knowledge of and a passion for building and protecting reputations for food, agribusiness and commodity clients to join our Food & Agriculture practice. This is a hybrid role based in our Kansas City Office.

This position will be instrumental in executing best-in-class work across growing accounts and support the development, presentation and execution of integrated reputation and brand positioning communications programs for national food and agribusiness clients. This individual will plan and activate creative recommendations on how to meet reputation management goals through communications.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage brand building and protection programs targeting producers, the food industry and other influencers for top B2B food brands and agribusiness clients, including thought leadership, executive visibility, issues management and more.
  • Be at the forefront of industry issues and provide client counsel for effective issues management.
  • Develop relationships and coordinate correspondence with external audiences: third-party organizations, industry and nutrition influencers, media, client partners.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and be an active leader and contributor to strong agency account teams.
  • Partner and build relationships with colleagues across teams and regions to successfully implement strategic campaigns that provide a diverse perspective.
  • Review/assess industry trends to identify opportunities to inject FH’s clients into current news cycles; drive story idea development, work closely with traditional and online media to shape and control communications that are in line with overall account objectives.
  • Develop and manage client budgets and support budget development, tracking, billing and communications.
  • Support food and agribusiness business development efforts for the office and assist on network new business.
  • Supervise and train junior account staff; provide quality control, determine workflow and assignments. Provide feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Cultivate diverse teams and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to join us in a hybrid model of working in-person in our Kansas City office weekly.
  • 10-15+ years of food and/or agriculture communication experience, preferably at a PR agency or corporate setting.
  • Previous experience managing agribusiness, commodity or food communications.
  • Knowledge of food and agriculture trends and issues, such as producer needs, food safety, sustainability, global food systems, animal health, etc.
  • Strong understanding of food and agriculture media environment: trade, national, consumer, business, bylines, influencers, spokespersons.
  • Success record of client counsel, client relationship building and team management; has launched and grown accounts.
  • Strong team player and passion for developing team members.
  • Energetic, self-starter and problem solver; gets things moving, keeps them on track and understands how to switch gears when needed.
  • Professional writing and client-facing presentation skills experience.
  • Understanding of and experience with business development.

The anticipated salary range for this position at the Vice President level is $102,689 – $175,000. The anticipated salary range for this position at the Senior Vice President Level is $130,696 – $235,000.

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off and/or other benefits also are available.
