Job Position: Horticulture Farm Manager

Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 per year
About the role:
- Managing a portfolio of multiple properties of up to 20,000 acres and 3,500 Black Angus cattle, with the opportunity to expand based on your abilities.
- Co-ordinate all aspects of the farm/s master plan and day-to-day farm operations, Implement and oversee processes, controls and policies as they relate to the operations.
- Provide strong safety leadership, promote and execute a positive safety culture across the farm/s.
- Leading and developing a team of Supervisors and broader team to reach their individual and team potential.
- Complete farm resource plans and work closely with HR in the selection and recruitment farm employees.
- Manage farm employee performance through identifying high performers, develop succession plans, identifying performance gaps and organise relevant training and development.
- Working closely with corporate and agronomy team to develop and implement approved farm operating and capital budgets.
- Operational and strategic management of the farming operations to meet investment performance objectives, including livestock sales, using practices to improve productivity, efficiency and sustainability.
- Senior-level planning and strategy execution, Implement stock and agronomy feasibility study recommendations and conduct pre and post-season reviews and planning days.
- Manage any substantial water entitlement portfolios in line with licence rules, including the maintenance of accurate records.
- Ensure the property’s houses, grounds, infrastructure, plant, and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
- Report, liaise and plan with the FGI Managing Director.
- Ensure accurate and timely farm management records and data within various management systems.
- Oversee accurate and timing monthly administration tasks.
- Attend business development meetings and conduct weekly meetings with staff.
- Ensure best practice standards adherence and review compliance with federal, state and local health and safety guidelines and industry regulations and report issues.
- Provide leadership and company representation at Principal/Client project meetings.
Requirements for this role:
- Educational qualifications in agriculture, agribusiness or a related field.
- A minimum 8 years+ in a previous similar managerial position.
- Successful track record of managing large-scale farms, including in Angus herd livestock and feed cropping management.
- Ability to understand, implement or carry out the following tasks:
- identification of any management needs including nutrition challenges in beef production systems
- identify consistent, high quality beef
- enhance value of stock
- carcass data evaluations
- low stress stock handing methods
- drenching, vaccinating and scheduled programs
- breeding optimisation with maximum yield
- crop and mixed-rotation plans
- rainfall, water availability and mitigation requirements
- close commercial and workforce hubs.
