Job Position: Aquaculture Supervisor

Location: Ayr, Northern Queensland 4807, Australia

Employment type: Full Time

Salary: $85,000 – $141,000 Per Year + Superannuation

Aquaculture Supervisor Job Role:

  • Overseeing and mentoring a team who performs a variety of moderate to complex technical tasks
  • Managing and supervising the breeding, raising, and harvesting of prawn stock
  • Managing and supervising the cultivation and harvesting of prawn stock
  • Managing and supervising stock feeding and watering quality programs
  • Supervising the operation and maintenance of specialized equipment and machinery used in aquaculture (as required)
  • Supervising and managing the inspection and maintenance of farm infrastructure, including water supply systems and auto feeders
  • Conducting aquaculture-specific safety drills
  • Ensuring gear is rigged to correct specifications including legislated requirements
  • Organizing and training technicians and workers
  • Supervising work routines and day to day production operations
  • Supervising, maintaining, and operating data collection and analysis and production technology systems
  • Supervise the application of pesticides and other chemicals
  • Identify pathogenic micro-organisms and insects, parasites, fungi, and weeds harmful to prawn stock, and assist in devising methods of control
  • Examine environmental and other factors that influence the growth, health, and production of aquatic stock
  • Analyse produce to set and maintain standards of quality
  • Monitoring aquatic stock to gauge the effectiveness of feed formulae
  • Provide technical advice on farming techniques and management and production processes
  • Be familiar with the site-specific environmental responsibilities and management systems
  • Ensure compliance with the site-specific Biosecurity Management Plan
  • Assist with ensuring compliance of all employees and contractors to HSE and Biosecurity regulations
  • Ensure team compliance with all organizational policies, legislative regulations, and statutory obligations at all times
  • Ensure housekeeping of the work area is always managed to provide a safe and healthy environment
  • Work collaboratively to reduce organizational ‘silos’ and ensure collaborative work practices


  • Cert III + 2 years of experience OR Cert IV in Aquaculture or relevant discipline 
  • Minimum one year of relevant full time work experience
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work under pressure whilst achieving deadlines
  • Strong computer skills
  • Quality and outcomes driven
