Queens Harbour is looking for 8 experienced Chef de Parties to join our kitchen in Toronto. We’re working on LMIA approval for qualified international candidates.
What We’re Looking For
You need to have 3-5 years of solid kitchen experience under your belt. College or CEGEP culinary training is what we’re after, but if you’ve got equivalent hands-on experience that’s taught you the same skills, we’ll consider that too.
You’ll also need a Safe Food Handling certificate – that’s non-negotiable.
What You’ll Be Doing
Cooking & Kitchen Operations:
- Prepare and cook food daily and for special events
- Cook specialty dishes and meals
- Handle dishes for guests with allergies or dietary restrictions
Managing People:
- Supervise chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff
- Train your team on prep, cooking, plating, and presentation
- Show them new cooking techniques and equipment
- Hire and train new staff when needed
Running the Business Side:
- Estimate food and supply costs
- Track labor costs and analyze operating expenses
- Keep records of food costs, sales, and inventory
- Plan menus and maintain quality standards
- Order food and kitchen supplies
- Arrange equipment purchases and repairs
The Reality of the Work
Kitchens move fast. You’re working under pressure, hitting tight deadlines, staying on your feet for long stretches. You’ll be lifting heavy pots, bending, crouching, moving around constantly. It’s physically demanding work that requires serious attention to detail because mistakes in a kitchen can be costly – or worse, dangerous.
What Kind of Person Fits
- Natural leader who people actually want to work with
- Dependable and organized
- Good communicator, especially under pressure
- Flexible when things go sideways
- Team player who takes initiative
- Shows up on time and gets things done
📄 LMIA Status: The employer has applied for an LMIA and is waiting for approval. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are also encouraged to apply.
