Ruberto Vegetable Farms is involved in harvesting and selling produce. A section of their land is certified under National Standard for Biodynamic and Organic Produce and is devoted to cultivation of organic garlic and pumpkin. Conventional production of annual crops like cabbage, lettuce, wombok and grey pumpkin is practiced on the other section.

Description About the role 

Ruberto Vegetable Farms is searching for enthusiastic Nursery Person to work within the large-scale farm, located in Hay, NSW. As Nursery Person, you will assist the Farm Manager to propagates and cultivates crop, vegetables, trees, shrubs, and ornamental and other plants. You will assist with growing produce, the watering plants manually and controlling automatic watering operations while complying with WHS legislation requirements.

You will be working with the farms at Hay, New South Wales 2711.

Skills and Experiences

At least three years of relevant experience or formal qualifications with at least one year of relevant experience. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies

  • Preparing potting media and containers prior to planting
  • Selecting seeds, bulbs, and cuttings, and planting them in garden beds, lawns, and tu
  • Budding and grafting plant material onto rootstock
  • Manually watering plants and managing automated irrigation systems
  • Applying pesticides to manage pests, diseases, weeds, and plant disorders caused by nutritional or environmental factors
  • Keeping records of soil mixtures, plantings, treatments, losses, and yields
  • Selecting plants and preparing them for packaging, presentation, and deli
  • Advising customers on plant care and recommending suitable plants for local conditions
  • May assist in planning sales area layouts and visual merchandisi
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proven teamwork abilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Always maintain a focus on safety

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on a farm and possess the ability to work individually or in a group to achieve set tasks. You will also bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn to experience the diversity of working on a farm.
