Location: Leamington, ON, Canada

Do you have a “green thumb” and a strong work ethic? Great Lakes Greenhouses is looking for a large group of motivated General Labourers to help us manage our bell pepper and cucumber crops in Leamington, Ontario.

This is a full-time, high-energy role in one of Canada’s most important agricultural hubs. We are LMIA-approved, and we are ready to support hardworking international applicants who want to build a career in Canadian agriculture.

What your days will look like

You’ll be at the heart of our greenhouse operations, making sure our crops are healthy and our customers get the best produce. You’ll be:

  • Growing & Tending: Planting seeds, transplanting seedlings, and learning how to prune, graft, and irrigate peppers and cucumbers.
  • The Harvest: Hand-picking and carefully packing vegetables to get them ready for shipping.
  • Plant Care: Mixing soils, applying fertilizers, and keeping an eye out for any signs of insects or disease to protect the crop.
  • Keeping it Clean: Maintaining a tidy workspace and helping with greenhouse sanitation to ensure everything runs smoothly.

What to expect from the environment

Farm work is rewarding, but it’s also a workout! You’ll be a great fit if:

  • You’re Physically Ready: You’re comfortable standing for long periods, bending, kneeling, and lifting crates up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • You’re Adaptable: Greenhouses can be hot, dusty, and sometimes a bit noisy or damp. We work in a fast-paced environment where there’s always something to do.
  • You’re Detail-Oriented: Whether you’re spotting a tiny pest or packing a delicate bell pepper, you take pride in the small details.
  • You’re a Team Player: With 55 new positions, you’ll be working alongside a big, diverse team. We need people who are reliable and work well with others.

Key Details

  • Experience: If you have even a few months of farm experience (1–7 months), you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
  • Education: No degree or diploma is required—just a willingness to learn and work hard.
  • The Hours: This is a big job! Expect 50 to 60 hours per week, which means plenty of opportunity for steady income.
  • Language: Basic English is needed for safety and team communication.
