The Position:
This is an opportunity to work in a hospital environment with a diverse range of presentations. You can join a well-functioning surgical department with all the facilities and opportunities you would expect.
The Surgical Registrar is directly responsible to the attending Surgical Consultant for day-to-day patient management, and ultimately to the Chief Medical Officer.
They will provide the day-to-day clinical management of patients under the care and direction of the Consultant Staff of the Department of Surgery to ensure a high quality of patient care.
They will undertake administrative duties for the Department under the direction of the Consultant Staff to ensure that the Department is run efficiently.
Assist the Director of Surgery in ensuring that General Surgery services provided by the Health Service are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner.
Eligibility:
To be successful in this role you must have MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Standard Pathway (AMC Part 1 complete) and Competent Authority IMG’s welcome.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proven ‘in charge’ experience.
- Proven reliability in work within personal level of expertise and seeking assistance as needed from senior staff.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate positively with and appropriately with patients and others
- High level of motivation
- Professional collegiality towards peers and the wider health care team

This 300+ bedded hospital provides services such as a 24/7 emergency department, surgery, medical, Women’s and Children’s services, rehabilitation, intensive care, and psych as well as extended care into regional services with community-based health programs.
This health service provided with a $200+ redevelopment grant, has doubled the hospital’s emergency department capacity, currently providing 44 treatment points including nine short stay beds for patients who need care for less than 24 hours, 64 inpatient beds, 10 ICU beds and 4 new operating theatres.
