Licensed Practical Nurse Job Details:
This competition is for 2 full time permanent position working 75 hours biweekly. Eligibility lists from this competition may be used to fill other permanent and term positions.
Reporting to the various Clinic Managers of the Integrated Health Service’s (IHS) Branch, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are health care professionals who work independently or in collaboration with other members of a health care team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for clients. LPNs provide work within their scope to provide high quality health care while maintaining professional values including accountability, integrity, transparency, and excellence. This position will service clients of the Whitehorse Walk-In Clinic, Constellation health centre, Yukon midwifery clinic, and Chronic Conditions Support the LPN works closely with other health professionals working within the various clinics that are part of the Integrated Health Service’s branch and those practicing in the broader community. This includes physicians, nurse practitioners, medical office assistants, as well as other social and allied health professionals. This position liaises with key partners to provide holistic, accessible, and equitable care for all clients. The LPN contributes to an environment that is inclusive, non-discriminatory, and physically, psychologically, and culturally safe.
This position may participate in an afterhours schedule to support clinic services outside of regular business hours.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Ensure a month/year to month/year format is used for each work experience. Please note that selection for further consideration will be based on the information you provide in your resume.
- Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Recent experience in a nursing role working with other healthcare professionals in a collaborative -care model to provide health care services.
- Recent experience working with clients experiencing issues with substance use or mental health would be considered an asset.
- Recent experience working in an emergency room, walk-in-clinic or primary care clinic setting would be considered an asset.
- Experience with handling electronic medical records.
Candidates who are currently students in a Nursing Certification program, who can demonstrate the essential qualifications through internships, practicums, cooperative and voluntary placements, and that have verification of graduation in 2023 may be considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on:
- Knowledge and understanding of the complexities of substance use and mental health.
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care and harm reduction approaches.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to balance competing demands from clients and colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent critical thinking, relationship building, and conflict management skills.
Additional Information:
Conditions of Employment:
- Current Yukon LPN certification,
- TB screening,
- Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance is all required prior to hire.
Job Requirements:
- Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Some work outside of office hours or evenings will be required.
- WHMIS 2015 within one month of hire
