The Northern Territory Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security is seeking an experienced Technical Officer for a fixed-term position in Darwin from the 23/10/2023 until 30/06/2024 within the Remote Sensing Branch.
As a member of a small team, you’ll report to the Principal Remote Sensing Officer (DHMMP) and have a range of responsibilities, including assisting with fieldwork in hot environments, Geographic Information System (GIS) tasks, and processing drone imagery.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Darwin Harbour Monitoring Mangrove Project and support fieldwork in Darwin Harbour and Bynoe Harbour. They will also assist with processing drone imagery, assist with running change detection analysis using GIS/Python, manage assets and assist with project documentation. Experience with drone capture and cartographic map creation using GIS would be advantageous. Additionally, they should possess high level reporting, and writing skills using a range of computer programs.
