Sponsorship Sales Coordinator Job description:

Reporting to the Manager of Finance and Business Operations. The Sponsorship Sales Coordinator is responsible for developing a department vision for sponsorship. Advertising and programming sales revenue including traditional sponsorship (signs, rink boards, in-game sponsorship). Digital signs, fundraising events, strength & conditioning, and fitness & recreation programming.

The incumbent will develop and manage sponsorship and advertising revenue sales targets, budgets, goals, maintain existing sponsor relationships, develop sponsorship packages, and will reach out to potential new sponsors and advertisers in the community to present them with mutually beneficial proposals with the goal of increasing sponsor engagement. The incumbent will attend fundraising and sporting events to build relationships with sponsors, create a sponsor relationship database, and manage the overall inventory of sponsorship and advertising assets with the goal of generating significant revenue for a nationally recognized Athletics department, varsity program and brand.

With over 50 digital signs in Athletics buildings, and several other digital sign programs across campus, the incumbent will work with dedicated staff in the University Centre and Computing and Communications Services departments to generate digital sign sales campus-wide.

Additional Information:

Another aspect of this position is liaising with junior sports organizations and other community members and organizations to develop new customer relationships for the Gryphon Performance Academy strength & conditioning unit and other Fitness & Recreation units. The incumbent will also work with Athletics IEDI Advisor on outreach in local high schools as part of the Believe to Achieve (B2A) program to increase brand awareness and engagement with prospective future Gryphons.

The incumbent will work closely with and attend frequent meetings with the Athletics Marketing and Communications department and the Supervisor of Events & Community Relations to ensure all marketing, promotions and sponsorship activations are coordinated and organized.

This position will also work with the Athletics Events and Relations Officer and Alumni Affairs & Development fundraising staff to create new sponsorship partnerships for major events such as the President’s Golf Tournament, Homecoming Football game, the Frosty Mug Men’s Hockey game, and the She’s Got Game Gala to raise funds for women’s scholarships.

  • Undergraduate degree and a minimum two (2) years of previous related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven sales ability in a corporate and/or university environment
  • Ability to deliver high quality work in a busy environment with overlapping time sensitive tasks

  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement
