RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates, inspects, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment in a Data Centre and/or critical environment facility. Assures that equipment is being maintained in a safe manner. Monitors and Operates multiple building systems to minimize down time through proactive performance testing and performing scheduled maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Applies electrical code to troubleshoot and resolve basic electrical wiring / circuitry problems, install and repair electrical equipment and wiring, roughing in feeders, branch circuit cables and circuits, splice electric or communication cables/trunk lines, and trimming out (finishing) electrical devices.
Operates and monitors critical and non-critical system equipment and components. Oversees/Develops/Improves CWP, SOP, ERP, and MOP work efforts (including 3rd party contractors) for the safe and compliant operation, maintenance (corrective and preventive), and modification of critical equipment. Disables and enables fire alarm control panels and systems.
Uses electrical test equipment, gauges and other measuring devices to test electrical equipment.
Installs Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems per manufacturer’s instructions. Performs device validation and system commissioning.
Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required. All work and electrical/mechanical switching will adhere to strict accordance with governing Critical Work Packages (CWPs), Emergency Response Procedures (ERPs), Method of Procedure (MOPs), and/ or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
Reviews historical maintenance records to develop proactive inspection, testing and preventive maintenance schedule.
Be available for on-call, off-hour response on a rotating schedule with peers. Ability and willingness to work extended hours for planned after hours work if needed. Be flexible to work schedule change to accommodate our client’s needs
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus a minimum of seven years experience as a licensed electrician. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program is preferred. Prior experience with DDC and EMS preferred. 2+ years experience in critical environment operations, maintenance, and/or Operations Engineering supporting critical facilities operations. Working knowledge of Critical Data Centre systems, including switchgear, power distribution, standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Valid driver’s license required.
Master Electrician license as dictated by local electrical codes – Industrial 442 or Construction & Maintenance 309a
One or more of the following additional certificates is preferred:
TSSA 4th Class Power Engineer
Building Environmental Systems Operator Class 1 &2

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
