About Our Opportunity
Department of Agriculture works to promote, support and develop competitive, sustainable and profitable industries that impact the economic, environmental and social prosperity of Nova Scotia’s rural communities. Reporting to the Director of Engagement, Equity and Belonging, the Employee Engagement Advisor is accountable for coordination development and implementations of department programs to promote employee engagement.
Primary Accountabilities
As the Employee Engagement Advisor, some of your accountabilities will be:
- Researching and developing personnel programs and policies to meet department’s employee engagement goals.
- Working with Employee Engagement Committee and senior management to provide advice and make recommendations in relation to employee engagement.
- Consulting with employees to provide input to senior management.
- Developing and evaluating communication strategies and promoting department initiatives amongst employees.
In addition, you will deliver a broad range of products and services including communication planning, written communications, presentations, webcasts, and event planning.
Qualifications and Experience
As the successful candidate, you will have post-secondary education in a related field (such as human resources, psychology) as well as some experience with building a culture of employee engagement or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong data analysis and consulting skills are required for your success within this role as are experience with performance planning and feedback. You must also be a strong communicator, both verbally and written.
You are a team player who thinks quickly under pressure and are able to provide sound advice in sensitive and ambiguous situations. You think outside of the box while remaining flexible and viewing all potential angles of solutions and ideas.
Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Analytical Thinking; Adaptability and Flexibility; Attention to Detail; Outcome Focus; Effective Interactive Communication; Teamwork and Collaboration; and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.

Salary Range: $2,211.68 – $2,764.61 Bi-Weekly
