We are recruiting for an Instrument Technician Team Leader to work for a prestigious chemical company based in Widnes.

You will be responsible for managing the safe operation of all electrical, control and instrumentation related equipment on site. Working with the Engineering Manager to ensure that all maintenance is carried out to the correct standard maintaining a safe operation. Ensuring response to plant breakdowns in and out of normal working hours. Provide guidance in order to lead and develop direct reports. The role requires a large percentage of hands-on work as well as maintaining and taking part in office-based activities.

You must also be able to travel to other sites and stay over if required.

Salary £50,029

Key Accountabilities:

Main Purpose of Role

· Support Northern Engineering Manager, Site Manager & Engineering Manager at Widnes site

· Drive electrical, control and instrumentation across the Widnes and Northern sites business, whilst meeting applicable standards including Health & Safety, Process Safety, Environmental, Quality, Legal & Financial.

· Ensure E/I maintenance and repairs are managed and consistently performed on a timely basis in accordance

with relevant legislation and regulations

· Ensure subcontractors are vetted, managed and controlled to comply with company obligations & standards

· Ensure new installations and modifications comply with the company’s Management of Change (MOC) procedure

· Provide E/I expertise to the sites via Teams and if required travel to sites when appropriate

Performance and Compliance Monitoring

· Manage an effective and efficient E/I maintenance and repair performance management system to monitor current

performance; track success / failure and take corrective action, where required. This includes participate in regular

engineering meetings and performance reviews with Site Engineers. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) should be

developed to manage E/I maintenance efficiency and quickly highlighting areas for attention. The KPIs should be tailored to best practice, including measures (such as on-time planned maintenances against target; repair completions; repairs completion times and resource allocation) but also including staff issues (including accidents, time management,

absence) and financial costs.

· Ensure E/I legislative and compliance issues are met at all times

· Follow all Control and Instrumentation practices and procedures in the management system to ensure compliance with all standards and regulations at all the sites.

· Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals and standards.

· Installing, configuring, calibrating and maintaining control ,measurement and indicating instrumentation

· Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with codes and legal regulations.

· Provide support and guidance to the E/I maintenance team and general upkeep of plant’s control and instrumentation systems and peripheries for smooth and efficient operation.

· Rectification and logging of the cause for any malfunction of control and instruments systems or components as assigned through the FSI System.

· Raise FSi tasks on the system when required

· Ensure completion of all routine planned preventative maintenance schedules and timely return plant or equipment to operation as per the FSI System.

· Routinely check completed jobs to ensure the systems remain safe and components are compactible as per the approved standards.

· Ensure inspections and monitoring of control and instrumentation equipment and other peripheries to remain functional and according to standards.

· Identify and report safety related issues including near miss and incidents through PRIME incident reporting system.

· Mentoring and training apprentices.

· Actively take part and contribute to business projects

Risk Assessment & Permit to Work

· Help to develop risk assessments in specialist areas that are within your expertise.

· Ensure activity is completed in line with all risk assessment and safe system of work

· Complete all duties as Permit acceptor on site within the permit to work system.

· Ensure contractors provide RAMS (Risk assessments & Method Statements) prior to carrying out E/I work on site

Inspection and Maintenance Management

· Ensure completion of the monthly and yearly calibration report to CMX database

· Ensure completion of the breakdown and ppm task in FSI.(Maintenance Management System)

Emergency Response

· Follow all instructions given from the site incident controller or the site main controller.

· Assist with the communication on site as requested by the site incident controller or the site main controller.

Miscellaneous

· Assist in the good housekeeping on site.

· Any other reasonable duty as identified by the Engineering Manager &/or Instrument Technical Manager to satisfy business needs, within the role holder’s capability & with sufficient training.

· Support all company initiatives and objectives

· Be a champion of safe working and safety standards at all times.

Other:

· Positive approach and good attitude to the main purpose and performance of this role.

· Maximise own ability to produce quality work, on time, and to brief, utilising best skills and available technology.

· Maintaining back up and revision and revision documentation for control system and instrumentation.
