Express Employment Delta is seeking a Shipper/Receiver for their client in Delta BC
We are seeking individuals with a positive mindset and attention to detail to join our team. Candidates must be willing to work hard in a fast-paced team environment and under pressure to meet deadlines. Willingness to learn with training provided.
The Receiver receives and records items such as parts, supplies, materials, equipment and stock from suppliers and vendors. Unloading of items may be done by either forklift and/or hand.
The incumbent ensures that every shipment and item received is inspected, sorted, stored and recorded in the inventory system with the appropriate tag code before being stored or distributed. Damaged items and/or shortages are recorded and reported to the Procurement department.
A counterbalance forklift certificate and steel-toe boots are required. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Unloads materials using forklift and/or hand truck or by hand to safely unload and store goods received.
- Inspects and verifies incoming goods against packing slips and/or other documents and ensures all packages and parts are accounted for. Records any discrepancies and/or shortages of received items and communicates these to the Procurement department.
- Rejects any damaged goods upon inspection.
- Unpacks parts, checks green tags for parts going directly to production and labels parts with barcodes prior to adding to stock shelves or distributing to the appropriate location, e.g., storage area, assembly, etc.
- Puts parts away in their proper stock location (including glue, fabric, rubstrakes, etc.).
- Follows and understands the direction and instructions of supervisors and team leaders while working independently and collaboratively with fellow team members, supervisors, and engineers.
- Assists co-workers with picking and shipping parts as required.
- Follows company standard requirements and adhering to policies and procedures on safety and quality protocols.
- Troubleshoots problems.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area with 5S lean standards and performs audits as required.
- Maintains current knowledge of WHMIS with safe handling and storage procedures of chemicals and materials.
- Completes work and tasks assigned with time restraints in mind within the standards of workmanship and meeting quality requirements.
- Documents and completes paperwork as needed and enters items into the Informatics system.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 to 3 years’ work experience in manufacturing environment required.
- Ability to handle physical workload and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. daily.
- Counterbalance Forklift Certification is required.
- Intermediate computer skills that include use of Excel Data entry experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to multi-task, be well-organized and detail-oriented, coordinate and collaborate with different stakeholders while operating in a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
- Possess good time management skills, understands how to prioritize, and works well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to solve problems and set priorities while working effectively and independently in a high-performance team culture.
- Exceptional customer service skills communicating with a professional and respectful manner with both internal and external customers.
- WHMIS training is an asset.
- Knowledge in logistics, manufacturing and/or warehouse experience is an asset
- Desire and ability to learn new things.
