Provide research assistance for CDU’s ‘Water Security for Northern Australia Program’
About the Position
As a Research Associate – Hydrology and Groundwater Science, you will work as part of the ‘Water Security for Northern Australia Program’, conducting quantitative research, processing data, contributing to project management, undertaking field work in remote locations and contributing to the preparation of research reports and scientific manuscripts. You may also participate in post-graduate supervision and other relevant research projects from time to time.
About You
To be successful you will require:
- A PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated qualifications and experience in environmental science, hydrogeology, hydrology, or related fields, with knowledge and experience working in surface water – groundwater interaction.
- Experience with handling, analysis and interpretation of major ion chemistry and groundwater tracers (e.g., to estimate water sources, age/residence times).
- Experience in remote area fieldwork, including the collection of surface and groundwater samples.
- Experience generating and delivering effective presentations and reports to research colleagues, government, and the wider community.
- Demonstrated ability to publish scientific research in international journals.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary, potentially regionally dispersed research team.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Research Focused Academic Level A and the base salary will be in the range of $72,702 to $109,071 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $85,061 to $127,613 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
