Trainee Technical Field Representative Job Details:
For the sixth year running the successful Trainee Technical Field Representative (TFR) Programme, will kick-off across New Zealand in mid to late 2023. This is your chance to develop and build your skill-set over an 18 month period to ensure you are ready to apply and transition into a Full-Time TFR.
Under the guidance and support of our Senior TFR’s and Store Managers throughout each region, you’ll learn about our complex business through a programme of training designed to provide a broad ‘generalist’ understanding and ability. You’ll learn everything from sales and technical knowledge through to client management and systems.
What does a day in the life of a Trainee TFR look like?

You’ll learn about:
- Our clients, and how to manage a client base while maintaining excellent customer service
- Quoting, contracts, systems and processes that support our commercial operations
- Specialist areas of agriculture as well as, agronomy and various crop sectors
- Professional relationships with other external organisations
- Compliance and legislation that plays a key role in the industry
- The wider PGG Wrightson business, including our Livestock, Wool, Corporate, and Real Estate Business Units.
About the role:
- Introduction to all facets of PGG Wrightson’s successful Retail Business
- Full-time permanent role with an 18 month training programme
- You’ll also work through and complete our in-house NZQA Accredited ‘Academy’ programme to gain a National Certificate in Rural Servicing (Level 4)
- Candidates must be willing and able to relocate throughout the region upon completion of the Trainee Programme for a permanent role dependent on where vacancies exist.

We’re looking for candidates with:
- Enthusiasm and passion for the NZ agriculture or horticulture industries
- Ability to relate to New Zealand growers and build solid relationships with a range of clients
- Practical horticultural/farming experience is strongly preferred
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous, but not essential
- A full, current and clean NZ driver licence.
