Assistant Cropping Farm Manager Job Details:

We are looking to fill the position of Cropping Farm Manager.

This position would suit someone who has had a few years experience in crop production and driving various machinery with a passion for broadacre cropping agriculture and willing to learn about aspects of the position.

The role requires the ability to work independently and complete set goals within time frames, however, this position is in addition to our other permanent staff so the ability to work and communicate within a team is also needed. This role is physically demanding and involves leading others to achieve grain production goals.

Keeping records of production operation is vital through various cloud based softwear programs.

A salary of $85-100K will be negotiated depending on experience and skill set, additions include on-farm housing, work vehicle, technology and tool allowance.

Main activities/tasks for this position include:

  • Operation of cropping machinery to carryout general farm operations; seeding, spraying, cultivating, fertilising and harvesting.
  • Assist with the maintenance of machinery, equipment, buildings, sheds, and facilities to ensure Work Health and Safety standards and high quality of produce. Identifying machinery not running at optimum levels (breakdowns and inefficacies), trouble-shooting problems
  • Assist with the storage and handling of grain.
  • Use of farming technologies and software including AgWorld, Trimble and AgriChain to plan and record activities
  • At times assist with the supervision of season staff
  • Produce crops to achieve volume, quality and cost objectives in line with budget expectation
  • Ensure safe and effective handling of equipment and everyday WHS
  • Communicating what is observed and identified with other senior and pier staff members
  • Other duties as directed

Required Qualifications:

  • Current drivers licence
  • 5 years of work experience in the crop production field

Desired skills:

  • Chemical Certificate
  • Welding skills
  • Forklift licence
  • HC or MC truck licence
