Departmental Overview:

The departmental objectives are to design, build and support the network infrastructure on the commercial production environment primarily Cloud Hyperscalers but also on other on-prem environments.

The Cloud Hyperscaler environments are listed such as: GCP, AWS and Microsoft Azure platforms.

The on-prem environments consist of networking infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, tools and monitoring and network cloud technologies.

The successful engineer will follow process and standards.

The responsibilities consist of working as an individual or team to implement and coordinate highly complex cloud deployments.

Role Description:

  • Provide expert level cloud design, understand all aspects, and best practices for cloud and enterprise data center infrastructure.
  • Work diligently to meet project and business timelines for design and deployment of cloud environments and network infrastructure, with a focus on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Work to provide best solutions for connectivity between data centers and clients.
  • Provide day to day support of routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers utilized by Network Operations within On-Prem Data Centers and Cloud Deployments in GCP, AWS, Azure etc.
  • Plan and recommend design that could improve the existing network environment.
  • Provide analysis of network capacity and health.
  • Implement networking best practices and standards throughout the infrastructure.
  • Creating documentation (to include Visio diagrams)
  • Participate and provide feedback into the day-to-day Cloud Network Operations
  • Responsible for the build-out and on-going support of the OpenText IRAP Cloud deployments primarily and other Cloud Hyperscaler deployments.
  • Participate in support through the ticketing system.
  • Escalate critical issues to manager in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate technical implementation with partners from business.
  • Plan and implement monitoring, limitations by resource and users/departments.
  • Mentor other team members on Cloud environments and best practices.
  • Ability to work after hours & on-call evenings/weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have hands on knowledge of public technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Shall have experience supporting complex technical environments, and carries a professional, business-focused attitude and courteous manner towards clients, partners, and peers.
  • Candidate must have excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills including demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working with various public cloud and enterprise environments.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working with network and infrastructure design best practices.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in general Network Engineering.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience supporting software defined network technologies (VMWare NSX, Juniper, Cisco etc.) and public cloud constructs and artifacts.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience building/supporting complex Hyperscaler deployments within GCP, AWS, Azure with the ability to learn others as required.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Expertise on design, build and support of network infrastructure.
  • Network Devices: Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers
  • Experience in Multivendor Network Environment (Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint, Extreme)
  • In-depth experience in Public Cloud Hyperscalers – GCP, AWS, Azure, Alibaba, HE, etc
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Pipeline development, Cloud formation templates.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Hand one with on-prem infrastructure like VMware.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
  • Deep understanding of system monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  • Deep understanding of networking principles and experience with network protocols and tools (such as TCP/IP, DNS, and BGP) and Service Mesh.
  • Proven track record of designing and maintaining highly available and scalable systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify and resolve issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Education:

An education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent experience is required.

Experience:

  • 6-9 years of mostly relevant experience. Highly developed professional/technical skills are needed to perform the job.
  • Knowledge of network engineering best practices, monitoring policy deployment, script development and information systems best practices (ITIL).
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift weights of ~50lbs.
  • Ability to work with project stakeholders and a globally distributed team.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support
  • Nice to have – Australian Government Security Clearance – Clearance level to be defined during Candidate selection process. NV1 at Minimum.
