This is a rare opportunity to progress into a management role within the next few years on a thriving, productive farm in Tasmania.

About the Farm:

• 400 HA farm with 800 milkers
• 50-bale rotary dairy
• Committed to excellence in dairy farming with cutting-edge technology and responsible farming practices
• Located close to town with supermarkets, schools, sports clubs, and Tasmania’s best fishing spots just a short drive away

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily milking operations, ensuring a high standard of efficiency and hygiene
• Optimize milk production while maintaining the health and welfare of the herd
• Ensure compliance with dairy industry standards for milk quality
• Assist the Farm Manager in day-to-day operations and step in during their absence
• Pasture management: Use rotational grazing principles to optimize rye grass pasture system production
• Perform water and fencing maintenance, including monitoring and fixing bore pumps
• Operate tractors for feeding out silage and quad bikes for farm work
• Assist with manage the effluent systems
• Maintain a proactive approach to farm management, ensuring everything runs smoothly

Requirements:

• 3-4 years’ experience in dairy operations
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Experience with pasture management, water systems, and dairy operations
• Ability to manage effluent systems and ensure compliance with EPA regulations
• Tractor and quad bike experience essential
• Must hold a manual driver’s license
• In-depth knowledge of herd health and milk quality management
